About the Author
DeCarla T. Hilliard was born in Eudora, Arkansas, which is in the southeast delta area of the state. When she was five years old, she moved to Evanston, Illinois, where she continues to reside with her husband, Ricky. She is also the mother of two adult sons, Ryan and Roderick. A to Z: The Alphabet in Rhymes and Pictures is the first book Mrs. Hilliard has written and illustrated. The concept for the book was born out of her desire to teach her son, Ryan, then aged four, the alphabet. Prompted by his suggestions, she drew pictures to aid his learning process. Drawing and painting has been a love and passion of hers since early childhood.
