About the Book

Imagine a world where a cow and a kangaroo are super spies that can “fly” and “dance in mid-air”, carry ‘outing’ bags that can hold everything including the kitchen sink, and a whole bunch of wacky gadgets that can do the strangest of things! This world exists to MilkyMay Mooberry and Karla Kang-Fu, two housewives from the little town of Berrytonville. On their way to the market, they embark on a journey that would be full of danger, laughs, vats of goo and gadgets that make them read each other’s minds and walk on air. This will go down in history as their very first Amazing Adventure! MilkyMay Mooberry and Karla Kang-Fu are best friends and neighbors in the little town of Berrytonville. They are your average everyday housewives, until one day a seemingly routine trip to the market changed their lives forever. They hear about a bank robbery in progress on the police scanner in MilkyMay’s car and decide to go check it out. This leads them into a car chase, some death defying acrobatics, Karla uses her signature ‘chicken wholloper’ move during a fast paced Kung-Fu match against a very fluffy Quail, and they all get into a real “sticky” situation. The idea for this book actually started out as just stories I would tell to my children. I would start the stories and they would take turns finishing it. I realized how hard it was for them to be creative and think ‘outside of the box’ when we first started doing this. I finally decided to put one of the stories on paper, which turned into a whole book. I think it is so important for children to be able to use their imagination. Everything in their world is so defined, cut and dry. Even in school, when they write essays they are given strict guidelines. There is no tangible room for creativity. I found that reading was the only place where they could create their own little world in their minds. I would also discuss the story with my children when it was finished. I think parents cannot only learn a great deal from their children, but about their children when they sit and just ‘talk’. At the end of this book, MilkyMay asks the reader if she should tell her husband what she did all day or keep it a secret. This is the perfect time for parents to discuss with their child about telling the truth or even what can happen if you keep a secret from someone you love. It is a very stress free and relaxed atmosphere to discuss topics that kids usually pay no attention to. This book also encourages the readers to go and create their own adventures and then write about it. This helps children not only expand their minds and delve into a world of fantasy, but learn how to put their creativity onto paper. This book is more than just fun literature for children, it teaches them so much more and on several different levels. • "Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up." -- Pablo Picasso • "The most potent muse of all is our own inner child." -- Stephen Nachmanovitch
