About the Author
Richard Daschbach, SVD was born in 1936 in Pittsburgh, Pa. He was ordained to the Catholic priesthood in 1964 as a Divine Word Missionary (SVD). After doing graduate studies for several years at the Catholic University of America in Washington DC, he departed for mission work in East Timor Indonesia, for which he had volunteered, and where he has spent the last 43 years of his life. His work has included serving as pastor for some 10,000 native Timorese and founding and running Topu Honis Kutet, a children’s home in the Ambenu enclave of that island. During his time of study in Washington, he began writing poetry, a hobby he has continued over the years. This book contains his reflections on the winter and spring seasons, and was complimented in an earlier book (Majesty of the Seasons: Summer and Fall Are Never Silent) that focused on the warmer months. Within a year, his final poetry book will be submitted for publication. That one will contain reflections and musings on East Timor culture and life, especially his work with the children’s home.
