About the Book

This is a children's story. The first purpose of the story is to be kind and caring to animals. The second purpose is to introduce vocabulary. The vocabulary being introduced is underlined. Within the story the meaning of each underlined word can be understood.

A glossary with the definition of each underlined word and the sentence from the story is appendexed at the end of the story.

It is also possible that each time it is said Victory is a Hound Dog Cryin all the time; that when the story is read aloud children or audience can sing, “You Ain't Nothin But a Hound Dog, just cryin all the time."

Additionally, the purpose of the book is to encourage children to draw their own illustrations. (The book can be dated and make a lovely keepsake.)

Finally, "Beckon what you Reckon about this book.”

There are a few questions at the end of the story for children to voluntarily think about..

About the Author

Dear Children, I hope you enjoy the story I particularly wrote for you with all my heart. I think that it is very important for everyone to be able to "use their words" to express themselves. I have had many jobs or have "worn different hats" so far in my life's journey. I worked for a telephone company, banks, and a newspaper. My most enjoyable job was as a teacher aid. Everyday the children made me smile and even made me smarter. They allowed me to think back to when I was their age and how I felt in certain circumstances. There were many times I thought about writing a book, especially for children. But, thinking hard about what to write made it difficult to write. Then one evening as I was driving home, I heard an Elvis Presley song on the radio. The song went "You Ain't Nothin But A Hound Dog Crying All The Time". I went to sleep that night and in the morning when I awoke the tune was in my thoughts. It was at that time that I began writing my story for you. It was February 2009. Best Regards, JoAnn Greco-Valenti
