About the Book

When looking back over my eighty-six years, it is hard to imagine that those years are behind me. I thank God for every one. Many told stories that only I can tell. I wish there were more years spent with my two daughters, for they grew up so fast. In writing my autobiography, God has given me remembrance of the past. I pray that this true story will hold dear to my daughters’ (Christy and Lori’s) hearts, giving them a little map of their heritage. There were many bumps in the road, but God had straightened them all out.

About the Author

Paul Schwertmann is the only son of an immigrant. His dad was born in Austria and came to the United States in 1909. Paul married at twenty-four. He was married for twenty-three years and divorced. He was single for twenty-three years and then married his first love whom he met while they were in their teens fifty-two years earlier. They were married for fourteen years and four months, and then the Lord took her home. The home then seemed empty. Their pet, a little white poodle, Lexie, also missed the woman of the happy home and would spend weeks lying at the door, waiting and listening for her master’s footsteps, which never came.
