About the Book

This book is a short poem about Musubi, a little rice ball, and what he likes. From his blanket, to his favorite foods, to the possessions in his room, and what he likes to do, he shares with readers everything that makes him happy. Young children are engaged with the book’s spare text and simple, yet charming illustrations. On the last page of the book, readers are encouraged to include a personal photograph because what Musubi likes the most is “spending time with you,” reinforcing the notion that what is important in life is spending time with the people you love.

About the Author

Connie Young Fong wrote this book in loving memory of her son, who passed away shortly after birth. This book is a collection of fond memories she shared with her son during her pregnancy and sentimental keepsakes associated with his precious life. She wanted this book to be instructional, fun, and most importantly a way for readers to know the story of Musubi, who was very little, and had a big heart.
