About the Book

This Book Answers An Important Question: If We Were Not Born Christian Would We Follow Jesus?

"Is it because you have seen me that you have believed? How blessed are those who have never seen me and yet have believed!" -John 20:29

"Unless you people see signs and wonders, you will never believe." -John 4:48

This book shows that we can be Christians by choice not just by birth. We can be Christians intellectually in an era of high intellect. We can be Christians in our minds, souls, and hearts.

Jesus' words and acts are so superlative they make intellectuals wonder whether or not he actually inhabited the earth. This is an important issue, for it would be illogical to follow an imaginary leader. Fortunately, we have ample proof of Jesus' existence on earth. Both archeological and exegetical discoveries are plentiful, and even today research goes on. The canonized Gospels provide proof of his existence on earth and solid evidence of his work. The image of Jesus in the four Gospels is so real, and surreal, that human imagination could not have created it.

Thus, although Jesus is legendary, he is not a legend. We have historical and archeological proof that he lived on earth two thousand years ago. He is a real leader for real people.

Analyzing Jesus' words and acts reveals a person so extraordinary that his ideology is literally out of this world. His style of leadership, when truly understood would lead the most intellectual amongst us to follow him-willingly, because he never threatened or lured anyone, with earthly gains. He wanted to lead the world on the basis of his ideals, not because of his miracles. For his words and acts are as miraculous as his acts of healing. Everything about him is outstanding when measured by the highest standards. While he could have led the world by force he chose to lead by offering absolute freedom to his followers. While all those around him were siding with the mighty and powerful he stood by the side of the poor and helpless. Thus he stirred up the human conscience in an era where conscience was virtually dead, or at least still deeply asleep.

Jesus Redefined Leadership.

When we study the leadership qualities of Jesus we have to remember that in his days the title of leader was almost exclusively bestowed on warriors-the winners of wars, the conquerors, the ruthless. Leadership was synonymous with the Caesars and the tyrants. Therefore, it is not surprising that the Jews of the time looked to Jesus, as their leader, to magically create for them a kingdom on earth from which they could fend off the Romans and live in the manner that they believed was their God-given right. But Jesus' leadership was not like that at all, so for Jews who were driven by such a false expectation of power and luxury, it was a disappointment. For those of us who are looking for spiritual and moral leadership, it was a revelation. In fact, Jesus redefined leadership.

Jesus invented a style of leadership that is as badly needed in our troubled world today as it was then. The book demonstrates that not only do we need the type of leadership Jesus invented, but that the world is now just beginning to recognize it, two thousand years after Jesus lived. The facts show that even today, the teachings of Jesus represent the most effective of all management styles, and that our most brilliant business leaders and scientists will benefit from adopting it. By following his words and emulating his style, we will have greater success in business, at home, in research and development, and in labor relations.

The most significant characteristic of Jesus' leadership style was his genuine altruism. Jesus selflessly and boldly redefined the role of the leader as being first and foremost loving and caring: he told us that a leader must keep the well-being of his followers as his most important responsibility.
