ABOUT THE AUTHOR Wm. Ross Aiken is a retired electronic/nuclear research engineer. He has worked for the University of California in nuclear research, and is former Director of Research for the Kaiser Aerospace and Electronics Company, among others. He has dozens of US and foreign patents and has written many technical papers published in magazines such as the IEEE Proceedings as well as less erudite publications. He has written two How-To computer books which have been known throughout the world for their clarity and ease of understanding. Mr. Aiken was graduated a B.S.E.E. from the University of California at Berkeley in 1947 and is a Registered Professional Engineer. He has been a featured banquet speaker and lecturer, and has made two lecture tours to Europe. He is a former Mayor and Councilman of Los Altos Hills, California, having been elected and reelected three times. Mr. Aiken has had the effrontery to write this book because of his thirty year friendship with Tauchendorf. They met when Mr. Aiken was seeking a patent attorney to apply for patents for a Thin TV Tube he invented. Over these years, Tauchendorf provided abundant verbal descriptions of the events described in the book, as well as thirty five hours of taped reminiscences and documentation. The name KurtRoss is used at the request of Mr. Tauchendorf.
