OUR ELDERS: SIX BAY AREA LIFE STORIES Six San Francisco Bay area elders tell their life stories. Collectively, these stories cover most of the highlights of the twentieth century historical drama as well as generous amounts of adventure, tragedy, love, courage and persistence in the face of rum odds. Our Elders is not merely old folks reminiscing about the good or bad old days, but a living history told by remarkable, but unsung, people who survived hard times with grace and humor. Searching for continuity in a society defined by rapid change and movement, we come back to our elders who walked on the road before us for inspiration and guidance.

About the Author

AUTHOR BIOGRAPHY I was born and raised in Findlay, Ohio where I am still connected by family and a deep love of place. Since 1966 I’ve lived in San Francisco where I received a Masters in history from San Francisco State University. I co-founded and directed a mentorship program for the YWCA serving young women who are coming through the juvenile justice system. Currently I am working on two projects: an oral history of California Ohlone women elders and Place, a series of vignettes highlighting the Native American presence in Northwestern Ohio from the Paleolithic to the present.
