A Family History

About the Book

This book is a genealogical history of our ancestors. The focus is on two different family stories. Part I traces Mary Virginia Myers’ ancestors; which include the family names of MCMASTER, MERRILL, MYERS, RUTHERFORD and STEVENS. To a lesser degree is included information about the families ALESHIRE, ARMSTRONG, BENEDICT, BROWN, CARPENTER, GARBER, MCABOY, PHELPS, SOMMERVILLE and YOUNG. Much of this families’ history occurs in Meigs and Richland Counties, Ohio. Part II traces Allen Berkley Clarks’ ancestors, which include the family names CLARK(E) and BONNER. Included within these sections are mention of families ADAMS, BROWN, GRANT, POWELL, SNEAD, WEATHERFORD and WILKERSON. Much of this families’ history occurs in Halifax County, Virginia.

Part III is an honor roll of military service by members of both families.

About the Author

Mary Virginia Myers married Allen Berkley Clark on May 4, 1946. The creation of this family from the meeting of these two clans sparked a desire to know more about their history. Allen Berkley Clark served in the U.S. Marine Corps for 30 years and the family traveled around the country. Mary Virginia did research in many libraries and organizations as they traveled. Over a thirty year period the files grew larger and larger, and what is written here is the partial result of that research.
