About the Book

About the Author

Known as the ‘Gadfly genius’ by some of those who know him, and described by the editor of this volume of a number of his papers as having ‘more sides to his character than a sphere’, the Shy American is a scholar who has lived for about forty years in Asia. This volume concerns the meeting between this extraordinary man and the editor; how they became two unlikely friends and how the editor was given the job of publishing some works of the Shy American. One of the Shy American’s fascinations has been with modeling the universe. For that he has examined and compared various religions and their respective models. Additionally, as a former student of physics in California during the 1950’s he formed some definite views about ‘two slit experiments’ and the like. When later experiments during the 1980’s and 1990’s upset the older experiments he had done in the 1950’s, he came up with a novel way to resolve the conflict that may have a broad application. Along the way, there is a fascinating discussion of ‘information’ as it may affect the behavior of the smallest particles of matter. It appears this universe may be some sort of self-conscious thing after all.
