About the Author

My name is Nancy Coretta Scaife. I was born in 1982 in Forrest City, Arkansas. I started school when I was five at Stewart Elementary. One day in kindergarten, I was sitting down drawing and I noticed I had a big crowd of students around me. My teacher, Mrs. Miller, came over to watch me draw. I remember her patting my shoulders and telling me that I was going to be a great artist one day. I looked up and didn’t understand what she meant by that. At the time I didn’t realize I had a talent for drawing. I attended Stewart and Lincoln elementary, there is where I found my talent and knew that I was going to be an artist. I was placed in the gifted and talented program for art there. I later attended Forrest City High School. While in high school I worked with different medias in art, but my passion was collage and ink drawing. After graduation in 2000, I married, had a child, and moved to Hawaii. I attended Honolulu Community college for 3 years. I also attended Honolulu Academy of Arts. While there I did artwork for a living. I painted and made portrait collages of people and there families for extra money. In 2004, I divorced and moved to Jonesboro Arkansas with my son Rickey Logan Jr. I attend Arkansas State University, major in Art Education. My mother Loretta Siggers and Father Don W. Scaife (deceased 2005) were also graduates of Arkansas State University. I have two brothers and one sister; Wesley (Forrest City, Ar), Donald (Marianna, Ar), and Shaun (Little Rock, Ar.) I’m continuing doing art for a living. I do a wide range of art work, from painting to designing. At this time I’m focusing on designing hairstyles for people. I hope to become a great teacher for students who have a passion for art like I do.
