About the Book

This book is illustrated by five year old Naiya Newton. Naiya was diagnosed with Autism when she was two years of age. Through her innocent eyes, we see the world in a different light. She has taught us how to appreciate every minute of life, every milestone a child can make and every special moment we can mistakenly take for granted.

This book is written through the eyes of a young Autistic child and tells the story of an Autistic little girl named Abby and her story on life and making friends. Her story teaches us to appreciate the simple pleasures of life and to never judge a book by its cover or a child by their disability.

It is a heartwarming, fun tale that will make a wonderful addition to every child’s library!

About the Author

Thomas the Monster Written and Illustrated by Nikki and Naiya Newton Thomas the Monster is Naiya’s imaginary friend who lives up in her favorite tree. It was such a remarkable moment when Naiya first told us of her imaginary playmate because two years ago, when she was diagnosed with Autism, Naiya was in a world of her own, withdrawn and distant from us. She has made amazing progress in such a short amount of time and is our proof that miracles really do happen. She has fought hard to overcome many battles that children with this mysterious disorder face on a daily basis, yet even during her worst, she always wore an enchanting smile. She has taught us to embrace life and appreciate all of its magic, beauty and wonder. She lives life with a free spirit, wonderful imagination and a pure, happy heart.
