About the Author

The Author Tamara Saey Bryan was born and raised in Kewanee, Illinois. She continues to reside there with her husband and son, Jamie and Connor. She is employed by Henry-Stark Counties Special Education District, working for the Kewanee School District as a School Psychologist and Special Education Coordinator. She chose to write this particular book subsequent to experience working with children of various ages who have often though “the grass is always greener…” but, herself, consistently able to find something special in each and every child. The Illustrator David vanNieuwenhuyse was born and raised in Kewanee, Illinois. For much of his childhood he liked to draw and color. He was encouraged by his parents to develop his gift. He was fortunate to have excellent high school are teachers that helped him to sharpen his skills and guided him into a life long career. David went on to obtain a B.A. degree in Art Education from Western Illinois University and later an M.A. in Education from St. Xavier University. He returned to Kewanee where he taught and coached until his retirement in 2005. He can still be found there with his wife of 36 years. David enjoys spending time with his family and friends. He is finally back doing what gave him so much pleasure as a youngster…drawing and coloring.
