About the Author

Irma Myrl K. Jacobovitz was born and raised in New York City, USA. She moved to Brazil after college to marry her Brazilian sweetheart. In Brazil she graduated in Language and taught English for many years. Mrs. Jacobovitz was a well known and respected professional tarot reader and teacher since 1986 until her death in November 2007. She was based in Recife, Northeast of Brazil, but her clients were not only local but also from all over the country and from abroad. Mrs. Jacobovitz worked with both people and businesses. Many companies made important business decisions based on her work. Irma decided to write this book after encouragement from her many business clients. She was frequently invited to participate in discussions about major political, cultural and social events on local and national TV and radio stations, wrote articles for magazines and newspapers and since1998 had a weekly Sunday column in a local newspaper, "Folha de Pernambuco." She did a special program for Brazil's major TV station "Globo TV", celebrating the anniversary of a local, and world's largest, carnival club, "Galo de Ouro." This show was aired nationally and internationally on Cable TV. Mrs. Jacobovitz designed and created her own Tarot cards based on Brazilian folklore and her life in Brazil. Her cards use images of popular festivals as well as the symbols and messages of traditional tarot cards. Although her cards are included in the book any Tarot deck can be used with this book.
