About the Book

In the Gospel of Mark she presents Jesus as a formidable teacher/mentor/leader of his time who invites his audience to think and behave as ‘kingdom people’. In the Pastoral Epistles of Timothy 1 and 2 the author further discusses the concept of discipleship as the Apostle Paul instructs and mentors Timothy to equip him to disciple others to keep alive the gospel in the hearts of those who follow Jesus Christ. Together, Jesus and Paul bring to light the concept of New Testament discipleship through their teachings and moral instruction. It is the author’s hope that readers will consider how what emerges may impact current models of leadership in the Church today as people of faith still disciple and instruct others who will, in turn, disciple and instruct others to maintain the integrity of the gospel. And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the good news to the whole creation.” (Mark 16:15 – NRSV)
