About the Book

Feast or Famine, a 25-piece poetry collection, shares the author’s view of several topics and timeless issues while relating her life experiences in an autobiographical format. There are five chapter headings; my family, my views, places I’ve been, favorite times/things and simply venting. The collection begins with an about the author introduction, as well as an acknowledgement page. This is the first edition and the writer plans to follow up with a cookbook which will include recipes collected during her career as a Personal Chef. Each piece of poetry has a pictorial illustration depicting the story been told in the poem. The author’s motivation for writing this poetry collection is to offer readers a summary, yet ‘fly on the wall’ detail of the life of an immigrant from the Caribbean, and therefore serves as a somewhat coming of age interpretation using experiences and perception.

About the Author

Born Beverley Elaine Watson on January 11th, 1975, Beverley went to Half-Way Tree Primary School as her first formal education, at the age of six. Beverley did well in her elementary years and took the common entrance exam and was accepted into St. Andrew High School for Girls at the age of twelve. At the age of 15 years old, her family migrated to the United States and settled in Brooklyn, New York. She there attended Springfield Gardens High School for 2 years until her acceptance at Ithaca College on a full academic scholarship. In 2001, Beverley became a Personal Chef and named her business Dial-A-Cook PCS. Many famous clients, cooking for 2 to 200, the purchase of two homes, moving from SE to SW Florida. The author now lives in a small town in upstate New York with her two children and pets. Her future lies in writing, teaching, cooking for private clients and running a bed and breakfast.
