About the Book

After an unsettling discovery, Sesily Dearborn was forever changed, her life embarking on a journey that would change the lives of everyone she knew. Isolated from her parents, she was left alone only with a maid from the family estate, as well as a soldier from her village. Now facing a world she never knew anything about, Sesily struggles to learn more about herself, her world, and the forbidden item she has discovered. As destiny has preordained, however, her fate is strung loosely on the thin strands of life and death. Finding unlikely allies, such as an obnoxious and arrogant reporter, a world-famous sharpshooter, and a promiscuous priestess, Sesily overcomes the challenges of a country built on conflict and survival of the brave. With her friends, Sesily faces a multitude of enemies. Terrifying heathens, known as Reapers, serve as a constant pestilence. About the Author

Alan Lane, author of Beneath the Light, was fourteen years old when he finished writing his first novel. He was born on Staten Island, the borough across the bay from Manhattan, NY. At the very young age of 3, he became interested in books, which his sister would often read to him. Writing began for him in the second grade, and soon thereafter he was writing short stories. Throughout his younger years, he would always scribble down his ideas on paper and these eventually cultivated into short stories. Having moved to a quieter atmosphere in upstate New York, he became more interested in writing his first full novel. Alan was thirteen years old when he began writing Beneath the Light. He incorporated some of the characters that had previously been in some of his short stories, such as the protagonist Sesily, among many others. Thus the multitude of colorful themes, ideas, and characters were all brought together. He would write down any ideas that came to him, and when he got home he would diligently work to put his thoughts to the paper. He still has many ideas and thoughts, so he writes daily. He finds writing is a good way to be creative, a fun hobby, and a way to express yourself. Alan is currently working on the sequel to his book, Beneath the Light.
