About the Author

While growing up in Kellogg, Idaho, Cindy was always a Caregiver within the family. However, her first job, as a true Caregiver, was for an elderly neighbor. The lady lived next door, and Cindy was only twelve years old. But, since Cindy’s mother was just next door, both families decided that Cindy could be the summer Caregiver. The summer job was wonderful, and it gave her a sense of what she wanted to do after graduating from school. Cindy’s first real job was as a mother’s helper and nanny, for a family with two very young children. As life went on, jobs came and went, but she still desired to be a real Caregiver. So, she took the classes and earned the Red Cross Certificates for First Aid and CPR. Then she began working for a local Caregivers Agency. Because, her first professional job as a Caregiver was through a local agency, her start was a structured, excellent educational work experience. And, with this wonderful introduction into Caregiving, she began her career. One of the first long term patient’s she had was an elderly man, who was slowing down. His son and daughter hired Cindy to care for him during the day, as they lived in other states. As time went on, it became necessary for Cindy to spend more and more time with him, until his son and daughter asked if she could live there and be a full time Caregiver. She took care of the elder man for many years, until he passed, and found that hard. Through this experience, she learned to feel a deep sense of life. Cindy loves living a worthwhile life by helping people do things that they cannot do for themselves. In giving to others, she has found great happiness and a deep purpose in life.
