About the Book

FROM FROZENNESS TO FREEDOM, a Healing Journey, is a story about transformation. It takes place on the island of Molokai at a beautiful retreat center called Hui Ho’olana.

It is one woman’s experience of how spontaneous intuitive painting opened doors to the unconscious and created healing. The author tells us about the process of painting and how she was guided through a life-changing experience.

About the Author

Katharine Stone Ayers is an artist who has lived in the Hawaiian Islands for the past 30 years. She graduated form Vassar College where she began writing and taking English courses. She found that journaling and writing poetry were a supportive way on integrating her life experiences over the years. She attended art school at the Art Center School in Los Angeles. Inspired by her and others experience of healing through chiropractic, she decided to enroll in the Cleveland Chiropractic College in Los Angeles. She practiced Chiropractic outside of Los Angeles in Canyon Country for ten years. In 1978, she began a Master’s program in counseling psychology, which included art therapy. In 1980, she moved to the Big Island of Hawaii and began to paint professionally while developing a body-oriented counseling practice. In 1999, she moved to Maui and continued to paint landscapes and florals in watercolor and oils and continued her healing practice.
