About the Book

"Un-Reined Soul" is a bilingual poetry collection expressing in both English and Spanish the full spectrum, from triumph to tragedy, of the modern human experience. The overlying theme of finding the inner voice that had been dormant for many years and using those emotions to fully express the depth of the human soul is one which is universal to any who have lived, loved or lost.

The inspiration for the works contained in Un-Reined Soul comes quite literally from everyday life. The poet takes moments in time and expresses them in a way that can touch the hearts, minds and souls of readers, relating to specific moments in their own lives. Readers will be uplifted by expressions of love, hope and family, experiencing awakenings of self-reflection through the poet´s inner most thoughts.

The book´s opening work, ´Unleashed´ is a poem that describes the awakening of a soul that once lay dormant and the new feelings and experiences that are revealed when that place is, at last, touched by the hand of inspiration.

‘Thief’ reflects on how individuals come into our lives disturbing, uncovering and exposing things we never knew had always existed below the surface, ultimately making the reader wonder who was really the ‘Thief.’

‘Reflection’ is a poem of self examination and introspection. At its core, it questions the juxtaposition of others perceptions of who we are to the true self that can be found in moments of inner contemplation.

‘Liberarme’ a poem in Spanish that expresses the pain felt by a heart that remains imprisoned by a lost love.

Expressing the beauty and pain of life is close to the heart of El Rios Paolino, who has experienced an abundance of both in her own life and has gained a newfound perspective by putting pen to paper in the creation of Un-Reined Soul. In the heart of the poet is the desire to show each reader that there is a new corner of their soul waiting to be ‘un-reined.’
