About the Book

“The King who can see” is a fantasy story about the One-Eyed King who found his courage after some monsters made terrible demands. The fantasy monsters are: Yeti, Manticore, Minotaur, and Chimera. On the good side is the struggling king who befriends the Dragon. To help them are their friends: Unicorn, Pegasus, and Sphinx. The story is based on the Proverb “in the land of the blind the man with one eye is king.” This means that even those with some disability are admired by someone who have even a little big of a gift. In this story the King has a gift, and he has to find a way to be “The King” using all his gifts, his mind and courage, to come out at the end of the story to be triumphant.

About the Author

I was inspired to write this book while being an ESL/ EFL teacher in South Korea. After graduating from the School of Education and Social Sciences at the University of Rio Grande in 2001, I taught overseas for about seven years. In South Korea students really liked listening to stories with gorgeous pictures. The last month of school the students had read all of the books we had. So, I wanted to make an interesting, amusing story that would review that year’s themes: Directions, Time, Landforms, Animal Parts, Mythological Animals, Children, Days of the Week, and Sequence Numbers. If you would like a voice-recording send to you so your child can listen to the story on the computer, please E-Mail the author at: mikerty75@hotmail.com
