About the Book

If you are a parent of small children these stories will tell you what is, and is not acceptable in a typical Kindergarten classroom. If you are a Kindergarten teacher you will be quite familiar with the antics of five or six year old students. If you are a Kindergartener these stories will sound like some of their own classmates. In other words this is just the way it is! The stories included in this book took place in a real Kindergarten classroom. The names have been changed to “protect the innocent”.

Ellie Kurth, the illustrator for “The Gingerbread Man goes to Kindergarten” is an 8th grader and a student at Pleasant Valley Junior High School in Bettendorf, Iowa. She is also the Joyce Kramer’s Granddaughter.

About the Author

Joyce Kramer is a wife, Mother, and Grandmother. She was for 35 years a Kindergarten and Pre School teacher of four and five year olds. While teaching Kindergarten she became an observer and advocate of small children. They have their reasons for doing things and their reasons are as valid as the teachers’ attempts to change what they are doing. Along with her love for reading children’s books and writing, she wrote a book of stories to give to her graduating Kindergarteners at the end of their school year. “The Gingerbread Man Goes to Kindergarten” is a result of this writing. If you are a parent of small children these stories will tell you what is, and is not acceptable in a typical Kindergarten classroom. If you are a Kindergarten teacher you will be quite familiar with the antics of five or six year old students. If you are a Kindergartener these stories will sound like some of own classmates. In other words this is just the way it is! The typical situations take place in a real classroom with Kindergarten children. The names have been changed to “protect the innocent”.
