About the Book
This is Mr. H.K. Cartwright, Jr.’s first published book and includes poems stretching across over four, rich decades. Although love poems are dominate, the author also touches on other areas of life such as social conscience, loneliness, survival, hope and jubilation. You may feel the author tugging at your heart strings and at times making you think beyond your situation. However most impactful are his delicate accounts of the most wonderful thing in life – LOVE.
About the Author
The author spent his early years in Memphis, Tennessee during the 1950’s. His family moved to Waukegan, Illinois in 1960 where he later completed his H.S. education. During this time is where he first discovered his love and talent for English Composition and the written word. Mr. Cartwright spent the 1960’s discovering the culture, politics and music scene of the times which would later greatly influence his writings. In 1969, he set out for his freshman year at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois to study mathematics. During this period is when the author began writing poems and in various other genres for pleasure. After his marriage in 1975 and three wonderful children, the author would spend the subsequent years concentrating on his family and career in Information Technology. Fast-forward to 2007 where the author discovered the art of blog writing on the internet and began posting daily compositions while improving his craft. These years became his most prolific writing period to date. The author and his wife Cheyrill presently live in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin.
