About the Book

Gabby Goes To Washington is a children's book which pays homage to Afro-American descendants born in the United States who are also of a multicultural union. As in the case with "Gabriella Nunez", the character, also called "Gabby", is Dominican, since her parents are from the island of Santo Domingo. Santo Domingo, a Spanish country founded by Spanish rulers. Like many multiethnic persons living in the United States of America, “Gabby speaks Spanish and English. This children's book celebrates her first trip to The White House. The book takes place in Washington, D.C., USA. There are many "first" experiences celebrated such as the first African-American man to become president of the white house. A rise from a man born into slavery not more than two hundred years earlier. Also his wife, the first African-American first lady, of the country. A multicultural, multi- ethnic, university educated and outstanding public servants and citizens

My inspiration comes from my alumni at The University of Virginia, along with my six sisters: Bernita, Gail, Donna, Venus, DeNichole and last but not least, Wanda! Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
