CHILDREN. I AM PROUD OF MY PARENTS; THEY TRIED THEIR BEST TO

TEACH ME HOW TO LIVE IN THIS WORLD. THEY TAUGHT ME HOW TO

WORK. THEY TAUGHT ME HOW TO RESPECT OTHER PEOPLE, AND THEY

ALSO TOLD ME I HAD TO GET AN EDUCATION. NOT ONLY MY MOTHER

AND FATHER BUT MY GRANDMOTHER, UNCLES AND AUNTS TAUGHT

About the Author

Tom Mims was born January 1, 1935 in Twiggs County, Ga. Raised on a farm, he endured life in the south as a young black male. He speaks about his experiences but focuses on the many blessings that were bestowed upon him. He credits his family for his meaningful experiences and multitude of life lessons. This is his account of those lessons.
