About the Book

Another in the series of little stories from prisoners, including the art work and the printing. All done in prison, by prisoners. This story, found in the bible, at Luke 10:25-37 was originally told by Jesus, then recorded in the bible by a beloved physician, Luke, a man with a keen mind and a kind heart. This parable has struck a responsive cord in people of many cultures over the centuries. The tendency to help others, even at personal cost, is so common that some term it "humanness". The result is an account that is both accurate and full of warmth and feeling. Funds received from the sale of this brochure will be used to facilitate better relationships between the prisoner and their families and to create economic opportunities for the prisoners. We want to help and to offer others a way to help as well. Artwork by several anonymous artists, with assistance from Troy Nimer. Story by Tai Tai. Printing done by inmates at the ACI Printshop at Perryville Women's Prison. Editor’s Note This is a parable or simple story illustrating a moral or religious lesson. Jews throughout history have, for the most part, been outstandingly humane in their kindness, warmth, hospitality and generosity. Jesus himself was a Jew. As was the lawyer to whom he was telling the parable. Jesus was raised by Jewish parents and was taught Hebrew or Jewish law, so were all 12 disciples of Jesus, all of them. And their altruism was exceptional. Christians today are not down by that wonderful law. However, principles therein provide lessons regarding the spirit of gratitude that god expects from his worshipers today.
