Wasted Lives: A book about a child that grew up in a family associated in crime and murder and how it affected him and his entire family, especially his mother and father.

About the Author

Born 1948, Vito Santos grew up in a family that was entangled in a life of crime and poverty. In his book, he recalls several devastating episodes that happened to him in his early years, including family members facing serious jail time. His memoir, however, does not dwell on Santos tarnished past; it follows him on his quest to recover and find freedom. With conviction and courage, Santos guides readers on a journey from guilt to redemption, from suffering, from suffering to true healing and from loss to victory. He shows how, in the midst of hardship and difficulties, he found strength and wisdom to transcend his past. Now in his sixties, Santos is proud to say that he is content. He has suffered many blows but also he has learned to roll with the punches. His painful experiences have also but destroyed him. Ultimately, these difficulties helped him emerge stronger, wiser and victorious. Can a person break free from his past? Santos life and story is proof that indeed one can. "Wasted Lives" is a triumphant testament of the indomitable human spirit; it is shocking, inspiring and most of all, it is True. Born in 1948, Vito Santos lived in New York until 1968 when he entered the U.S. Air Force. He was honorably discharged on January 21, 1972. He married his wife, Eileen Mary on August 14, 1971 and they have been together for 42 years. They have one daughter Mary Kate and three granddaughters Bridget, Colleen and Katie. In 2005, Santos was diagnosed with stage 4 Renal Cell Cancer but this did not stop him from continually caring for his wife who suffers from multiple sclerosis. He considers himself a survivor of both cancer and life. .
