About the Book

This district is located near Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Florida was the epicenter of the 2008 election of president Barack Obama and Broward County is also where Phyllis Hope was elected as the first African American and the fi rst women to be elected to the Broward County School Board district six seat from 2006-2010. It was also the first time in history that two African Americans sat on the School Board of Broward County at the same time. While she made history, she kept a personal journal of the history making elections of President Barack Obama.

About the Author

She was born and raised in Broward County. She is a product of Broward County Public Schools and worked in numerous position for the Broward County School system. Married, mother of two daughters, who both attended Broward County Public Schools. Grandchildren that also currently attends Broward County Public Schools.
