About the Book

In the midst of the cold, wicked, and windy streets of Chicago, Deontay Miller and his right hand man, Chris, start out as petty hustlers in Cabrini Green housing projects one of the most notorious projects in America. (Home of TV’s own: Good Times, Cooly High, and Candy man just to name a few…). But once Doughboy, Chris cousin, turns them on to the drug game they apprehensively make the transition from stealing and selling bikes, to copping weight and distributing it in hand to hand transactions. Two years after being introduced to “The game” Deontay is now checking just as much bread as some of the older heads. But unfortunately for Deontay in the depts of the slums getting a little money often tends to make you a target, and Deontay is no exception. After refusing to be extorted by letting Black, the neighborhood bully “Hold something” a mere altercation escalades to Black making an attempt to Deontay’s life later on that night. But luckily Deontay escapes the hail of gun fire unscaved… The next day in broad daylight, Deontay murders Black in cold blood. This bold barbaric act captured the respect of his peers, causing Deontay’s name to ring throughout the streets.

About the Author

I, Asedwick Knight, am currently Twenty-Nine years of age and reside in the wicked streets of Chicago. I have always had the gift to gab but never knew that I could corporate that into something constructive until I discovered that I had a hidden talent to write and possessed the imagination to paint vivid pictures, while telling enticing, heartfelt, page turning, tales of the ghetto that can be felt in every hood. And felt by everybody, from the Doughboy’s sitting in the cell, to those who rely on books like “A Snake Within My Circle” to paint a picture of that life they were fortunate enough to have escaped. I have invested too many years of my life running the streets using project buildings as a stepping stone in a pursuit of a better life. But unfortunately to no avail… But if I can take my thorough street knowledge, my trials and tribulations, and everything I’ve witnessed while living the life of an urban novel. Those years that I consider wasted won’t be…If I’m able to put all of those years of experience on to paper and share my stories with the world. I have two kids, and I am striving to show my son that he doesn’t have to be consumed by his environment just because it’s right outside of his window. And I’m trying to be the perfect reflection of a man to my daughter. They say that a little girl grows up to marry the image of her father and unless I’m able to find my niche I won’t be content with that cliché. I have a Snake Within My Circle 2 (Tightening up my circle) in progress and have several of more books on the brain…I am very loyal and if granted the opportunity I guarantee not to disappoint. I am relentlessly ambitious and conquer anything I put my mind to. All I need is that very much needed chance. Thank you for your time.
