About the Book
Because I love children, believe in children, and respect children, it is my hope that this parent guide will help you affect your child’s life to allow him or her to grow and develop in a healthy, happy environment and to help you enjoy the journey. Children are gifts and need the unconditional love and support from parents prepared to face the challenges of parenthood. Parenthood is a club you’ve joined without knowing the dues or bylaws. —Sandra Schumer
About the Author
Sandra Schumer has worked as a speech therapist for the deaf for twenty-five years and values the importance of words. In addition to being a speech therapist, teacher of the deaf, and special education administrator, she has also owned her own enrichment center (Maple Park, Rockville Center, New York). It was here she began to facilitate parent groups, supervise mommy-and-me classes, lecture at nursery schools and PTA meetings, and began working with parents individually to help them become better prepared as parents. Ms. Schumer is retired but continues to work part-time facilitating parenting workshops. This book has been in the making for several years, and she is proud to finally have completed this lifelong goal.
