About the Book

This story is about my journey from a little girl in Afghanistan to fleeing to the united states and returning back to Afghanistan as an Afghan interpreter/cultural advisor to the U.S. military. This story highlights the difficulties and struggles my family and I endured leaving Afghanistan and adapting to a new culture in the United States. As a reader you will return with me back to Afghanistan with the U.S. military. You will learn about the conflict through my eyes. You will follow me through several life saving humanitarian missions as well as violent armed conflict.

About the Author

I am an afghan woman who was born in Afghanistan during the soviet occupation. I fled Afghanistan during the rise of the Taliban. I came to the United States as a young teenager. I went to school in the U.S. I have written many poems and published one in 1999. I received a presidential award during the Clinton Administration for environmental protection services. I returned to Afghanistan with the US military during operation enduring freedom to help Afghan women and children.
