“Been wonderin' when you were going to show up, Agent Duncan.” “I am sure you have which leads me to the question of why wasn't I contacted? I didn't know anything about this until my boss referred me to the newspaper article found on the last page in fine print. I will request that the coroner be on his way here with his current reports on the scene and I will wait while you make the call.” As the Captain began to walk away from Bernie while getting his phone from his pocket, Bernie said, “Excuse me, Captain, but please make the phone call right here.” The Captain's ears began to turn red. He walked back the few steps to Bernie and called the coroner who said he would be on the way immediately. Beginning to become angry at the rudeness of this agent, Michael was tempted to become uncooperative, then thought better of it. SHE would probably have him killed for it. He didn't dare give away his attachment to the Klan. “Captain Allen? Please gather all of the notes taken from this crime scene and have them to me within the hour.” Michael's chest puffed up as he was about to argue with this pompous ass of an agent. Before he even opened his mouth, Bernie said, “I don't care how you get them here. But, if every last note taken is not here by then, I will have you arrested for compromising the evidence of a crime scene and for dereliction of duty in not contacting the proper authority while containing the crime scene!” Bernie's tone brooked no argument and at his threat. Michael began contacting everyone he could think of to get there pronto with their notes. He spoke loudly at first so the Agent could hear him, then added softly on each call to get as many with guns as possible to the scene. There was a situation that needed attention. He didn't wait for permission from HER! SHE wasn't there and the one in danger! Carrie was so proud of Bernie! She had been mesmerized watching him in action. He had been brilliant! Bernie, on the other hand, wondered if he hadn't just gotten them both killed…

About the Author
This is the fourth book in Jean's murder mysteries series and the sixth book Jean has launched for publication in less than eight months. However, Jean has a variety of other activities that keep her busy besides writing. She enjoys playing online Euchre, which allows her to chat with people from all over the world. While on their cruise through the Hawaiian Islands in October of last year, she and her husband learned to play the Mexican train domino game. They now play the game at home along with card games and Scrabble! The summer months will find them camping in their Featherlite Camper, traveling to unseen areas of the United States and enjoying an oasis set up in their backyard to rest from camping!
