About the Book

Children’s book or an adult fantasy. A group of mermaids have a ritual where they ascend to the upper world to look for adventure. However, they consider the upper world and the people there dangerous. Dulce, a mermaid, ascents to the upper world, but unlike her family and friends, Dulce encounters kindness and love on the surface world.

About the Author

Karen D. Gaskins is a psychologist. She maintains a nonprofit mental health and consulting private practice miles outside of Washington, DC. She is an avid reader of science, social science, science fiction, neuroscience, classic novels, and biographies and writes in her spare time. She collects children’s books, and among her favorites are Alice in Wonderland, The Little Prince, Hans Christian Anderson, and Peter Pan.
