About the Book

This book of poetry was inspired by the events leading up to the first Gulf War.

About the Author

I was born a lost poet at the age of zero. I crawled out of the womb in old town Maine (the canoe capital of the world), cut my teeth on pulp wood and Catholicism, and lost my mind and all ambition to live the life of the normal white man on the top of Mount Katahdin in 1959. I joined the army and, to avoid Vietnam, went to Germany, but they still kicked me out. Psychotic, bullet-bitten, dust-free life of uniformity just wasn’t for me. I flew back to good ole USA, made my way to the West Coast, blew my mind on the dish sublime canyon life of the LA smog avoidance, sex, drugs, and the occasional martini. I lasted a year and a half then fled north, stumbled around the woods of the northwest from the Olympic Mountains to the Yellowstone Caldera, and sucked it all up for twenty-five years, writing down in delirious attempts to communicate with fellow mammals, various plants, and some insects. I spent the time from then till now sending messages out to the deep and mysterious void we see all around us, waiting for an answer.
