About the Author

Danute was born in the small town of Skaudvile, Lithuania to a farming family, and studied Economics at Vilnius University.  After university she returned to work near her home but, after 18 years, she moved back to Vilnius to work in public service.

Bored with this job, she decided to visit a friend in Connecticut, USA, and while she was there, she decided to train and work as a caregiver.  It was also in the USA that she discovered mandalas, which she loved for their simplicity and therapeutic qualities, and she started drawing them in her free time.

Danute moved to England in 2012 and worked as a live-in carer for elderly people, as she enjoyed communicating with them and helping them.  An artist she met saw her mandalas and encouraged her to carry on and develop her work.  He even gave her a sharp pencil!

Drawing Mandalas became Danute's hobby and passion, and during her breaks when her elderly clients didn't need her, she continued to improve her drawing technique and develop her ideas.  After she had created about a hundred mandalas, the daughter of one of her clients admired them and persuaded her to get them printed.  Drawing, and colouring in, mandalas is relaxing and absorbing, and takes us away from our screens and our phones and the stresses of our lives.

Danute also loves Spencerian calligraphy, sports and travel, and is inspired by the novels of Paulo Coellho.
