About the Book
Treemont the Turtle is the story about a turtle who is not happy with his life. He feels as though he needs to change himself mostly because it takes him so long to get from one place to another. He wants to be like other animals that moves quickly on land, in the water, and even in the air. So he searches for answers from friends he meets during a day’s journey along Laboona Beach. Treemont learns that true happiness will be found not in what he wants, but rather in what he already has. The story of Treemont the Turtle reminds readers of the uniqueness of all God’s creatures. It celebrates children’s uniqueness and helps children develop positive self-esteem.
About the Author
Marya Onufrik Bazzoni has a degree in recreational therapy. She wrote Treemont the Turtle as a script for a children’s puppet show that was performed in schools and at other venues. The story was embraced by teachers, parents, and children who encouraged her to share it once again in the format of a children’s book. Marya currently works as a paraprofessional for children with special needs in an elementary school. She enjoys her time with her students and is grateful for the lessons that they teach her each day. Marya lives in Southbury, Connecticut.
