About the Book

New teachers with the hope of becoming veteran teachers often require reminders that the field of teaching is not for the faint of heart. As such, this book’s intended appeal is to professional classroom teachers who come into daily contact with their students, their parents, and their colleagues. Human resource officers and district and school level administrators will find this book to be a manager’s tool for sharing certain warning signs during preschool orientation and teacher in-service training. Teacher unions will benefit from having this book as a practical guide to aid in circumventing teacher misconduct on and off the job with the hope of minimizing disciplinary action. Lastly, university teaching professionals in teacher education programs may see this book as a practical guide when working with aspiring teachers.

About the Author

Louis Robison was a practitioner in the field of traditional K–12 and college education before taking an early exit to become principal in a nontraditional school for youth offenders. He eventually returned to traditional education where he served as a director for middle school education and executive director for state and federal testing requirements. As a school level administrator, Louis modeled high-performing schools around his single belief that you must understand the rules of the game if you intend to be an effective player in the game. An educational and community leader for more than twenty-five years, Louis has been a presenter and researcher for leading-edge reforms in Florida public schools. He is active in many community boards and shares a passion for quality K–12 education. Notably, he considers his role as principal to be the most challenging and yet the most rewarding.
