About the Book

This is a selection of poetry from my time in the hospital and the experiences that led me to be admitted to the hospital, i.e., childhood abuse, the French foreign legion operation desert storm, Operation Desert Shield in Iraq in 1991, and my depression and mental illness and post-traumatic stress disorder following these experiences.

About the Author

Hi I am allen stokes . The big Fella My thoughts and feelings during that time and after are also laid bare along with what led me to be sectioned over 3 times on both a section 3 and 2. I joined the French foreign legion at the age of 19 after telling my dad and mom I was going hop picking in France. After training with the 4th regiment etrangere de infantry (basic training regiment in Castle naudery), then joined the 1st regiment etrangere de cavalry (tank regiment) I was posted to Iraq and Saudi Arabia where I spent my 20th birthday in the desert I hope my selection of poems inspires and supports people on their own personal journey through tough times and life itself and brings hope and comfort for those of you with similar experiences.
