About the Book

An attractive mother and her alluring daughter married handsome and powerful men who can’t resist the seduction of other women. The men can’t seem to avoid the curse of the golden cow, a figurine crafted by their ancestors to show everyone their fortunate life in a gold-mining town. As devoted Roman Catholics, both women traveled on troubled waters and went through a lot of almost-hopeless difficulties. Rosabella Medrano had to marry a Spanish bullfighter before settling down with Santiago de Asis, her true love. Donnabella Vasquez suffered a nearly permanent heartbreak when Fernando De Asis, her betrothed, briefly wed someone else. Though both ladies met perilous journeys throughout their married life, Donnabella’s path became more dangerous when the Imperial Japanese Army occupied the Philippines for three years while her husband joined the clandestine Filipino-American guerrilla band and, later, the liberating allied forces led by the Americans.
