About the Book

The book begins with speculation about our origin in Scotland, the nature of our persecution, and the date of arrival in Australia. Then descriptions of gold discovery and mining for gold in Victoria during the 1860’s. One line of the large Aberdeen family is followed through to 2020. The wild but cunning William Aberdeen personality stays in the genes, and prosperity comes from tertiary education. Long may we continue.

About the Author

The author has had a very interesting and varied life. He began life on a dairy farm at the start of the great depression in the 1930,s and managed through tertiary education to eventually become a professional agricultural consultant. Constructing reports has developed his writing skills during the nine decades he has lived so far. Upon retirement in his mid 80’s he was able to plan and write this story of his own family line during the last 200 years. His great grandfather was a refugee from the highland clearances in Scotland. He married a young Irish wife who emigrated to Melbourne when the potato famine struck and the English evicted their farm tenants.
