I'm Not Perfect

Mike honestly used to think that Kevin didn’t care very much for anyone other than their mother because of how he had misused so many women over the years. But the past year had proven to be one of growth for his little brother. For once, he had only been with one woman and that was Danica, the mother of one of his two children. For years Mike had been telling Kevin that Danica was the one he needed to marry, but Kevin always ended up cheating with women he had no earthly intention of building a relationship with. When Kevin ended up getting Tracy pregnant, Mike thought that Danica had finally given up, but after he begged and pleaded for almost two years, Danica finally gave him one more chance. She told him straight up, you mess up one more time and that’s it! By the time Kevin made it to Mike’s home, he was full of nervous energy. When Mike heard Kevin’s car in the driveway, he went to the front door and opened it before Kevin had the chance to knock. Soon as he walked through the door, he began telling Mike his version of the drama from the previous night. Mike listened as Kevin explained in detail what had happened and, to his surprise, Mike spoke in a harsher tone than he had ever used with anyone. I honestly thought you were going to tell me something completely different, but you are still acting like the same little boy that I used to have to save from getting his behind kicked every day in high school. Always running up on someone else’s girl and then tossing them away like trash, and I was always there to keep some brother from breaking you in half for hurting his little sister. There were so many times I wanted to just let you get what was coming to you, at least once. But all I could think about was Mom whipping my behind for not helping you. I can hear her now “Now, Michael you know you’re supposed to protect your brother.” “I didn’t raise y’all to abandon each other, no matter the situation, you look out for each other.” There were so many times that you deserved getting knocked out, but because of mom, I couldn’t let that happen. Mike, I was faithful and I have been for the past year. What are you talking about? Look boy, if you had not been expecting Danica to come over, you would have slept with Tracy and you know it. The only reason you were even mad was the fact that she had purposely gotten her lipstick on your shirt. Otherwise, you enjoyed that kiss, and you would have never mentioned it to Danica if you had not been caught. Why didn’t you just tell Tracy to keep it moving? In fact, you didn’t even have to let her get out of the car. When you saw her pulling up, you should have stepped outside to see what she wanted. It would be different if Tracy was like most females, but she is not. She’s had it in for Danica since the day you met her and how you can be so naïve is beyond my comprehension. What is wrong with you? Kevin quickly responded, “it caught me completely off guard,” but hopefully Danica will still let me see my son. And maybe she will eventually take me back. Mike looked at Kevin in disbelief and sighed as he asked him, Kevin, I want you to answer this question for me and I want you to be honest, “are you on drugs of any kind”? Do you smoke weed? Man, were you listening at all? This girl is fed up with you! Danica is tired of your mess! Just let her go! Kevin sighed before he spoke, wow, Mike, you seem really upset. You’ve never had this much to say. Especially if it wasn’t related to the bible. Look Kevin, Danica is a good girl and you’ve been taking this girl through it, year after year. She practically begged you to leave her alone if you weren’t planning on being faithful and you couldn’t even last one year! And please don’t keep crying about how you didn’t do anything because I am not buying it. Kevin’s eyes grew wide in astonishment when he heard Mike speaking so harshly, and Mike looked at him with a smirk on his face and responded, “Like I said “When you saw Tracy walking to your doorstep, you should have sent her right back to her car.” She could have called you and told you about Aaliyah’s appointment, so save it. I am not about to be on your side with this one and like Danica told you, I really hope that kiss was worth it.
