About the Book

Reflections Of A Journey is a continuation of Charles’s book, South of Charleston The Journey, where he shared his life growing up in the south in a climate that was not kind to African Americans and other people of color living there. Their love for life and their community is a testament of their strength, courage, determination and faith.

About the Author

Charles grew up in a place where family values were passed down from his ancestors. These principles shaped how he viewed the world and how he treated other people. They influenced the way he lived. As a child he questioned some of these values but kept quiet in order not to risk challenging his elders’ authority.

Now that he has lived experiences, sharing his thoughts about life and the challenges faced by the African American communities has become very important to him. Just as his ancestors blessed him through prayer and by passing down their values, he wants to do the same for his descendants.

It is his prayer that some of his experiences and writings will touch the hearts and minds of those who read his books. He wants people to feel confident in who they are and what they have accomplished through their hard work.
