“True, but let's not count on the authorities, Ruthie. We're closer to the river than anyone else in town. It's rained four days straight. I haven't seen a patrol car on this road since day before yesterday. Safer than sorry, Dear Heart. I'd rather spend two days putting everything back in order than spend two years waiting for an insurance settlement.”
