When Christopher was 14 years old and Caroline was 11, they decided they wanted to learn about another culture. So, their family moved to Taiwan, which used to be called Formosa, “the beautiful island.” Taiwan is an island just off the coast of the huge country of China. It is one of the best kept secrets in Asia, because it is a very special place. Christopher & Caroline were surprised to find out that Taiwan has colorful cities, amazing mountains, and beautiful beaches. The first thing that they noticed is how friendly and polite the Taiwanese people are. They go out of their way to be helpful and kind. Many of the people originally came from China, others are native to Taiwan, but all of them are proud of their country and its history and make it a very safe place to live.

About the Book
Take an adventure through the colorful island of Taiwan with Chrisopher & Caroline, who lived in Taiwan for four years; while their father, who is a United States diplomat, served at the American Institute in Taiwan. They learned how to speak Chinese and loved living in a safe, colorful, and friendly place with so much for them to do and see. Today, their Chinese language is helpful in their international work. They really like learning about other cultures and traveling, and hope that you will too!
About the Author
Joanne Grady Huskey is a cross cultural trainer whose life work is to help people of different cultural backgrounds understand each other better. In Taiwan, she served on the Board of Directors of the Taipei American School, worked at the National Palace Museum, and wrote for the Centered on Taiwan Magazine. She is the author of seven books.
