About the Book

Eighteen years ago a woman took a lonely walk home late one night from the grocery store. A man jumped out of the shadows and raped her, leaving her for dead. Eight months later, she gave birth to a son, whom she never properly named until she saw his uncanny fascination with a pen. She only called him ‘Sonny’ but his few close friends would know him as “The Writer”.

Now he is about to graduate from high school and his future is as blank as a piece of paper. He has no idea what God wants him to do in life with his talent. However, all this doubt could be due to his unstable friendship with some guy named Rusty, who is a pathetic and sadistic nympho with a sick mind and heart. This guy has terribly messed up The Writer’s conscience about life and has even made him question the loving friendship he has with Joey, his next door neighbor.

One night, The Writer stumbles upon a stranger lying out in the road. He brings him home to tend to him. Little does he know that this simple act of charity will forever transform all he has ever known in life as well as settle once and for all what the true nature of Rusty really is. But the end result is pending tragedy…

This novel, written especially for young adults, took Big Adam seven years to write as it is inspired by his own life. It is loaded with scenes such as a high school graduation, a fight with a wall, a hypnotic trip into another world, a dazzling bowling tournament, a dance marathon, a singing contest, a frenzied excursion into a dark city at night menaced by thugs and hookers, and a climax that is sure to make you stop and think about the ones who are dearest to you in life.

Big Adam dedicated this book, which is his first novel, to his friend Joe LePage.
