About the Book

In 1876, when her mother died, Alexandra deMain was taken by her natural father to his home in Cypress Springs, Texas. Although Alexander MacDonald changed her name to Liza Dunnett, his wife recognized the child as his illegitimate daughter and shunted the girl to her housekeeper Juana Martinez and her husband, Felipe. She was turned into a servant, snubbed by her half-sister Harmony, ignored by her half-brother Jared. Befriended by their cousin Chris Langham and her foster parents, Juana and Felipe, she was not too unhappy, although she felt that there must be something more in her future than being a servant. Chris was her friend, waiting to be more than her friend when she grew up. But life had other tricks to play her. She was courted by her brother who was equally ignorant of their kinship, and responded to the first awakening of her ripening body. When she learned who she truly was, she felt betrayed, rejected, used. She ran away to find out about her mother, her family. On her journey, she met an actress who introduced her to the theater in New Orleans.

About the Author

Aline Beeson Thompson has been writing since she was 10. When in the early 80s she got a word processor her writing got a little more serious. In 1987 Leisure Books published “Both Sides Now” and vindicated her belief in her own talent. She lives in the Los Angeles area with frequent trips to Las Vegas to visit her daughter. Her three sons live in her area.
