About the Book
Two talented young people, Carrie and Chris, meet in summer theatre, fall in love and marry before going into New York in search of success on Broadway. But their rosy dreams for the future run into problems in the theatre world of the big city. The first problem is learning how to accept rejection and come back for more. When jobs do appear, further stumbling blocks come with them … separation, loneliness and partings. Then Chris gets his big opportunity – a film in Hollywood – but will he be able to navigate the fleshy temptations of movie making? And has he grown up enough to accept responsibility for his own actions? Carrie and Chris discover that ‘happy ever after’ is a concept that applies – if at all – only in fairy stores and never in real life nor even in the world of entertainment.
About the Author
Laura McBride acted in professional theatre for over a decade. Though she eventually abandoned her early dreams of fame and fortune on the stage, the theatre still holds fascination for her. She uses it here as the background of her first novel.
