About the Book

Enter the world of thoroughbred horse racing in late eighteenth century South Carolina. Feel the disappointment of defeat and the excitement of winning as the heroine, Ashley Laura, participates in the world of equestrian competition. And the unexpected turn of events that causes her to leave it all behind to live in the world of the the great Cherokee Chief Seven Bears, Emperor of the Cherokee Nation. Some parts of the story are based on accounts, real or imagined, as they were handed down by word of mouth through the generations of the family of the author.

About the Author

My love for horses and story telling has to be attributed to my paternal grandmother. She was an accomplished horsewoman and an avid story teller. I hope the reader of this fictional account will find it as enjoyable to read as I enjoyed the experience of putting it down on paper, and that I have succeeded in imitating my grandmother’s talent to spin a yarn.
