James W. Spain has graduate degrees from the University of Chicago and Columbia. He was U.S. Ambassador in Tanzania, Turkey, Sri Lanka, and at the UN. In retirement he lives in Colombo, Sri Lanka and has drawn on the many places in which he served to produce nine “Dodo Dillon” novels, of which Out Beyond is the last. The tales demonstrate that old folks can have adventures too.
